Power to the Fans - Groupon-izing Facebook for the best deals

With Groupon (US) or Grab One in New Zealand you buy deals and if enough people buy them the deal becomes active and you can claim it. 

US retailer Walmart has applied a similar tactic to their Facebook Page

They recently launched their CrowdSaver app where they post up special deals or discounts on certain products. If enough people LIKE the deal within the timeframe it becomes active.


This is a very interesting application that I think applies to all retailers and even fast food outlets. 

For instance (give me credit Burger King if you do this) you could allow fans to create their own custom Burger and if enough people like it then you make it

Or Threadless could activate a deal for a specific t-shirt if enough people like the offer.

Cool application? I think so
