Just Smile for Loyalty and Customer Retention

I've been on my 3rd business trip to San Francisco over the last week. And with my mind constantly assessing customer service one thing jumps out from this week. Simple, yes but still an important reminder.

Smiles are gold!

A simple smile from the staff at the local cafe kept me returning everyday instead of trying a competitor

A smile and a few words with the Checkout staff at Wholefoods meant I went back there instead of Safeway. 

A smile says a thousand words of joy and appreciation. A smile makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. A smile makes a service failure seem less significant or easier to deal with. A smile makes the experience more enjoyable.

When it comes to improving your customer service, loyalty and customer retention please remind your staff to smile! It could be the best and cheapest strategy you'll ever use.
